2018 AGM & Winter field days

This year’s AGM and winter field days will be held in Marlborough during the weekend of 23/24 June.

There are several field trips planned, plus plenty of time for socialising. We also hope to set up some working groups so that members can share their experience and expertise in the issues that interest them most, without the commitment of joining the committee.

For the orchard visits, we do strongly advise you bring a pair of gumboots as some orchards are showing the signs of wet weather already. We will have printed maps available on Saturday morning, as well as knowledgeable locals to follow.

To help us confirm arrangements for the dinner and lunches, please can you let us know as soon as possible if you will be attending, and any particular dietary requirements.

Friday 22 June

From 7.00 pm meet at the Dodson Street Beer Garden, (1 Dodson St, Mayfield, Blenheim – beside Landsdowne Park) for drinks and dinner. Conveniently located only a few minutes’ walk from the Grove Park Motel for those who book in there.

Grove Park are offering studio units for $138 per night and 2 bedroom units $185. https://www.grovepark.co.nz/

Saturday 23 June

9.00 am Meet at Uncle Joes (Jenny & Malcolm Horwell). 39 Rowley Cres, Grovetown, Blenheim

From here, we’ll head to the Pinoli pinenut factory north of Wairau Village. The drive takes 45 mins, so would be good to carpool to save some petrol and allow us to talk to each other on the way! We’ll also be distributing maps to help you navigate through the rest of the weekend.

9.45am Pinoli factory and orchard tour. 3582 Waihopai Valley Rd
Pinoli is a pinenut facility, and this is a chance for us to look at how a few people have taken an idea into a leading industry. Lots to see and learn from. They will be harvesting pine nuts while we’re there.

A light lunch will be provided at Pinoli before we leave.

12.30 pm leave Pinoli, 45 min drive to…

1.15 pm Nutt Ranch orchard, Tyntesfield Rd, Waihopai valley
