Auckland No.2 was selected as a potential late polliniser from a plant at the DSIR Research Station at Mt. Albert, Auckland.
It is not in the Wairata or Lincoln plant collections so information on the tree, nut, and flowering characteristics is limited.
The tree is very similar to Alexandra in form.
Flowering and pollen shed are very late.
No information is available on its compatibility with late flowering varieties.
Yields are usually very low, probably due to the very late flowering.
Nuts are similar to Alexandra but with a shell that is less downy and rounder in shape.
